Located on Mount Lavinia Beach, the hotel is 20-minute drive from the National Zoological Garden in Dehiwala. Driving from Bandaranaike International Airport takes an hour and 30 minutes.

The rooms are built in true colonial style, fitted with dark wood furnishings, air-conditioning, satellite TV, private bathroom with bathtubs and shower facilities and tea/coffee making facilities that help you relax and unwind. Rooms with private balconies faces the bay and Colombo’s Skyline.

Great hotel for a beach holiday
Its a grand hotel with lot of history, and u will see that exploring the hotel. Which also means some items may not be modern, but we'll maintained old items. Room was next to beach and one of the best views you will get. Staff are top notch helpful always.
As it is very old hotel you do see the ageing, so some of the modern facilities might be missing, but all important ones are there. Depends what ur taste is.

Mount Lavinia Hotel is a fantastic place to stay. What truly makes it worthwhile is the rich history and unique vibe of the place. I stayed in the ocean view room, which was absolutely lovely. The hotel is also the backdrop of an intriguing love story, and you can take a tour to immerse yourself in its history, including the story’s unfolding in the tunnel of Mount Lavinia which still exists. From the exceptional service to the comfortable stay, good food, and, most of all, the historic atmosphere, this place offers an unforgettable experience. The hotel is located by the sea and offers stunning views. The picturesque scenery provides a perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the ocean right from their rooms or while strolling along the beach. It's an ideal destination for those looking to unwind and soak in the serene coastal atmosphere. it is one of the oldest and most iconic buildings of Sri Lanka. Old style rooms with stunning beach views , highly recommended if you love sea view.
Mount Lavinia Hotel is far from worth the money they charge.There are far better options available that offer value for money and treat their guests with respect. 4 Star Hotel with 2 Star equivalent rooms. We didn't even have toothbrush and hotwater showee in the bedroom.
